Greene King Beer Pub of the Year 2022

At the Champ we pride ourselves on the quality of our beer and we can confidently say that you won't find better kept beer in Cambridge.

Want more proof, though? We're the Greene King Beer Pub of the Year, 2022, beating out over 3,100 other Greene King pubs!

We're also listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2022. Out of more than 50,000 pubs in Britain, only 4,500 (just 9%) of the finest outlets for real ale are chosen for inclusion in the Good Beer Guide. Pubs in the Guide are chosen by local CAMRA members who go through a rigorous process to ensure only the best pubs are selected.

But the proof is in the pudding, so if you want to know quite how good our beer is then you'll just have to come in and taste it! In the meantime, you can find the full selection below.

Ales - it's what we do

Guest Ales

Because variety is the spice of life! We change our guest ales every few weeks to keep things interesting - this is what's on now.

Oakham Ales JHB, 3.8%

A Champ favourite! Light gold in colour and distinctively smooth, with citrus fruitiness and a refreshing hoppy finish. JHB was the first beer brewed when Oakham Ales was founded in September 1993 and is the perfect session beer.

Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker, 4.0%

A well-balanced, genuine Yorkshire Bitter, with a full measure of maltiness and hoppy aroma – Boltmaker is first choice for the discerning drinker – on both sides of the Pennines.

Butcombe Gold, 4.4%

Fearlessly brewed, this is a well-balanced, full-bodied golden beer with a subtle floral and herby aroma. A true Bristol sunset in a bottle, worth its weight in gold. Part bitter, part sweet, 100% refreshing.

Our Ales

We pride ourselves on having the best ales in Cambridge. These are the ones we always have on, because they're just too good not to.

Abbot Ale, 5%

Lawrence the landlord's all-time favourite beer. Malty, lovely mahogany colour and just a hint of sweet caramel.

Greene King IPA, 3.6%

The quintessential session ale. Hoppy, bitter and refreshing.

Beers

Lagers

Estrella Damm, 4.6%

A light malty aroma on the nose with a little spice drifting through slowly. With a smooth offering of darker malts, toasted flavours and creamy hops.

Stella Artois, 4.8%

Expertly balanced malted barley and the finest European Saaz hops give this classic Belgian beer a well-balanced flavour profile; pleasantly bitter with a refreshing finish.

Carlsberg Danish Pilsner, 3.8%

Carlsberg is light, easy drinking and refreshing. The all-malt recipe and Carlsberg yeast strain give a balance between body and depth of flavour, making Carlsberg the ideal choice for any occasion.

Cyder & Pale Ale

Aspall Suffolk Cyder, 5.5%

Fruity, dry, racy, thirst-quenching and lip-smacking. Suitable for coeliacs, vegetarians and vegans.

NEW! Ice Breaker Pale Ale, 4.5%

Triple hopped with Citra and Simcoe to deliver citrus and tropical fruit aromas and tastes, complimented with fresh pine resin and a crisp bitterness.

Bavarian Beer & Stout

ABK Hell, 5.0%

Full bodied grain flavours with lots of green apple and light but persistent hints of pine and herbs, with a light bitterness that persists through to the finish.

Guinness, 4.1%

Probably the most recognisable beer there is. A perfect balance of bitter and sweet with malt and roast flavours.

Butcombe Gold, 4.4%
